  • How long does a wind mitigation inspection take?
A wind mitigation inspection is not as in-depth as other inspections like a home inspection and generally takes less time. If you are just getting a wind mitigation inspection performed by itself then, generally speaking, we can get it completed in about 1 hour or less. You can also save time by bundling a wind mitigation inspection with another inspection. At JA Building Solutions we understand that it is not always convenient having to get an inspection completed. We do our best to make the process as seamless and as convenient as possible since it is a disruption of your life.
  • How long is a wind mitigation report good for?
Assuming you do not update or modify your home, a wind mitigation inspection report is good for 5 years. We recommend updating your report by having another wind mitigation inspection performed each time you upgrade or modify any of the following: Roof Exterior windows (including glass block) Exterior doors (including your garage door)
  • Who do I send my wind mitigation inspection report to?
After the report is published you will automatically receive a link to your wind mitigation inspection report via email and text. The report should be sent to your insurance or real estate agent. If you are working with an agent you can save time by entering your agent's information into our online quoting form and when we publish your report your agent will automatically receive a copy of your report when it get published.
  • How soon will my report be published?
We usually publish wind mitigation inspection reports on the same day as the inspection as we understand the importance of getting that information sooner rather than later. In some very rare cases it can take longer.
  • What is a wind mitigation inspection?
A wind mitigation inspection focuses on specific features of your home's construction that can help it resist damage caused by high winds and windborne debris during storms. These features can include: Roof covering: Impact-resistant shingles or metal roofs are more likely to stay put during strong winds. Roof deck attachment: The way your roof deck is securely fastened to the trusses plays a crucial role in its wind resistance. Roof shape: Hip roofs tend to perform better in high winds compared to gable roofs. Wall construction: Homes with certain wall bracing systems offer additional wind resistance. Windows and doors: Impact-resistant windows and doors significantly decrease the risk of windblown objects breaking through and causing interior damage.
  • What are the benefits of a wind mitigation inspection?
By having a wind mitigation inspection conducted, you can potentially: Reduce your homeowners insurance premium: Insurance companies reward homes with wind mitigation features with lower premiums, reflecting a lower risk of wind damage. Increase your bargaining power: A wind mitigation report can be a valuable asset when negotiating with your insurance provider. Gain peace of mind: Knowing your home has features that can withstand strong winds offers valuable peace of mind during hurricane season.
  • Do I need a wind mitigation inspection?
A wind mitigation inspection is typically recommended for homeowners or potential homebuyers in areas prone to high winds, such as Jacksonville, Florida. It's especially beneficial if you're looking to: Lower Insurance Premiums: Many insurance companies offer discounts for homes with wind-resistant features. A wind mitigation inspection can identify these features, potentially leading to savings on your insurance premiums. Ensure Home Safety: A wind mitigation inspection assesses the structural integrity of your home, including the roof, windows, doors, and other vulnerable areas. Knowing that your home is well-prepared for strong winds can provide peace of mind during storm seasons. Meet Insurance Requirements: In some cases, insurance companies may require a wind mitigation inspection as part of the underwriting process, especially for homes in high-risk wind zones like Jacksonville. Prevent Future Damage: By identifying areas of weakness or potential vulnerabilities, a wind mitigation inspection can help you take proactive measures to reinforce your home against wind damage, potentially saving you from costly repairs in the future. Overall, if you own a home in an area prone to hurricanes or strong winds, or if you're in the process of buying a home in such an area, a wind mitigation inspection can be a valuable investment in protecting your property and ensuring your safety.
  • What payment methods do you accept?
We currently accept cash, checks, or credit cards. You can pay either before, during, or after services are rendered. Note: Our software will not release any inspection reports until payment in full is received.
  • What format will my inspection report be in?
Our inspection process is streamlined thanks to digital reporting. Instead of paper checklists and handwritten notes, our inspectors use mobile apps or tablets to record their findings in real-time. This allows for efficient data collection, including photos and voice annotations. Once the inspection is complete, the reports are automatically generated with all the captured information, saving time and reducing errors. This digital format also allows for easy sharing with clients, secure storage in the cloud, and efficient trend analysis for future inspections.
